SAT Registration Deadlines 2026: Dates and Late Registration

College Board’s confirmed 2026 weekend schedule includes spring dates from the 2025–26 cycle and five fall dates from the 2026–27 cycle. All listed deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time. Late registration is available worldwide with an additional fee.

Device-loan deadline

Students requesting a device from College Board must register and request it at least 30 days before test day, earlier than the normal registration deadline. Do not wait for late registration.

Choose the date from score needs, not only availability

Work backward from college, scholarship, athletic, or program deadlines. Leave time for scores to become available, for any institution-specific reporting process, and for a possible retake. Check the recipient's current policy rather than assuming every application accepts scores on the same timetable.

Also review school exams, AP testing, travel, religious observances, work, and activities. An August or September administration may offer an earlier application result; an October or later date may provide more preparation but less recovery time before a deadline. Convert the deadline to your time zone

College Board states the registration deadlines in U.S. Eastern Time. Add the regular and late deadlines to your calendar with the correct time-zone conversion and a personal deadline at least 48 hours earlier. Daylight-saving differences can change the offset for international students.

Do not begin at 11:45 p.m. Eastern on the final day. Account recovery, payment authorization, photo problems, or a full test center can prevent completion. A partially filled form does not reserve a seat.

Fees and waivers

Late registration costs extra. Exact base, late, change, cancellation, and international fees should be checked on the current fee pages during registration rather than copied from an older chart. Eligible low-income U.S./territory students in grades 11–12 may receive fee-waiver benefits, including two free SAT tests and other benefits; eligibility and access steps are official College Board decisions.

Students seeking a fee waiver should contact the school counselor or the official College Board support path early. Do not assume eligibility automatically appears in the account on deadline night. Confirm which benefits apply to registration, late fees, score reports, or other services.

Accommodations require a separate timeline

College Board's Services for Students with Disabilities process is not completed merely by selecting an accommodation during ordinary registration. Work with the school's SSD coordinator or follow the official independent/homeschooled process well before the test date. Approval can require documentation and processing time.

Once approved, verify that the registration reflects the correct accommodation and that the chosen test center can administer it. A late registration window should not be treated as an accommodations deadline.

Registration checklist

1. Create or use one College Board account with legal identifying information.
2. Select the date and an available test center; a date is not secured until registration completes.
3. Upload a compliant photo and pay or apply verified fee-waiver benefits.
4. Request accommodations through the proper process early; approval is separate from ordinary registration.
5. Request a device 30+ days early if needed.
6. Save confirmation and calendar both deadlines.
7. In the five days before the test, complete Bluebook exam setup and obtain the admission ticket.

After registration: confirm the operational details

Save the confirmation number and take a screenshot or PDF of the final registration page. Check the legal name, date of birth, test date, test center, and any approved accommodations. Add a calendar reminder for Bluebook exam setup and a second reminder to check for center changes.

Install Bluebook on the device you plan to use and complete a test preview. If bringing your own device, verify it meets current requirements and can hold a charge. If requesting a loan device, keep the request confirmation and follow all later instructions.

Test centers can change or close. Monitor the College Board account and registered email, particularly in the final week. Do not rely only on a map search result for reporting instructions.

If the preferred center is full

Search nearby centers and other test dates, considering transportation and application deadlines. Do not select a location you cannot reach reliably simply to hold a seat. Check the official registration system for availability; third-party center lists are not live inventories.

If no reasonable option is available, compare the next date with the score-use deadline and contact the relevant college/program when its published instructions call for that. Registering late does not guarantee a seat will appear.
